Around ₹1,00,000 is where a gaming PC stops feeling like a series of sacrifices. You get a current-generation platform, a card that handles 1440p, and enough headroom that nothing is obviously holding anything else back.

Why AM5 here

At this budget the platform saving from AM4 no longer buys you a meaningfully better card, and you’d be spending near-DDR5 money on DDR4 anyway thanks to the memory shortage.

AM5 means you can drop a much faster CPU in later — including an X3D chip — without replacing the board or the memory. At a hundred thousand rupees, that matters.

The 16GB versus 32GB decision

The uncomfortable one. A 32GB DDR5 kit costs roughly ₹40,000 right now, against ₹21,000 for 16GB.

For pure gaming, 16GB in dual channel plus a better GPU produces more frames today. For streaming while playing, video editing, or heavy multitasking, take the 32GB and step the card down.

Model it yourself on the PC builder — swap the memory and watch what happens to the estimated frame rate. The answer depends on what you play.

GPU choice at this tier

You’re choosing between roughly:

  • RTX 5060 Ti 16GB — more VRAM, better ray tracing, better upscaling ecosystem
  • RX 9060 XT 16GB — often more raster performance per rupee

At 1440p, take the 16GB version of whatever you choose. The extra memory is what determines whether the card is still comfortable in three years.

Where not to spend

Memory speed. DDR5-6000 CL30 is the AM5 sweet spot. Faster kits cost disproportionately more for low single-digit gains.

Gen 5 storage. Almost invisible in games. A good Gen 4 drive is the right call, and the money goes further elsewhere.

Where to spend a little more

The power supply. A Gold unit from a known brand, sized with headroom for one GPU upgrade. This is the part that protects everything else.

The case. Mesh front. A ₹5,000 airflow case will run meaningfully cooler than a ₹3,000 sealed one, and cooler means higher sustained clocks.

What this build costs beyond the cabinet

The ₹1,06,000 is parts in a box. The setup around it is where this tier is either finished properly or quietly wasted.

A monitor, ₹18,000–28,000. This is the one that matters most here, and it is the one people postpone. A build producing 100+ fps at 1440p shown on a 1080p 60Hz panel is delivering maybe a third of what you paid for. A UPS, ₹4,000–6,000. Same argument as at every budget in India, with more at stake. Voltage fluctuation and abrupt cuts kill power supplies, and this one is protecting a ₹40,000 graphics card. Size it for a clean shutdown, not for continuing to play through an outage.

Peripherals, ₹5,000–12,000. A mouse that fits your grip and a headset or headphones with a separate mic. At this tier the audio decision is worth thinking about rather than defaulting to a gaming headset.

Plan for ₹1,30,000–1,45,000 all in if you are starting from nothing. That is not a reason to cut the build — it is a reason to stage the purchase, and the monitor is the part worth waiting a month for rather than downgrading.

Buying it in India without losing the warranty

Component prices swing by several thousand rupees between sellers, and the cheapest listing is not always the one you want. The detail is in where to actually buy PC parts in India; at this budget three things matter most:

  • The GPU is the part to buy from an authorised seller. It is the most expensive component, the most common counterfeit-box target, and the one whose warranty you are most likely to need.
  • Register the board and PSU warranties if the brand offers it. Several give an extra year or two for two minutes of work.
  • Keep the invoice with serials. A GPU RMA without one is not a claim, it is a request for a favour.

The upgrade path from here

In rough order of value:

  1. Memory to 32GB when prices ease
  2. A second NVMe drive — cheap, and games are enormous
  3. CPU to an X3D chip in two or three years, board unchanged
  4. GPU when the card no longer holds your target frame rate
