GTA Online Solo: Which Businesses Are Worth Your Time

Most money guides assume you have four friends online. Here's what actually earns when you're playing alone, ranked by money per hour.

GTA Online Solo: Which Businesses Are Worth Your Time

Almost every GTA Online money guide assumes a full lobby of cooperative players. Solo play changes the ranking completely — some of the best-paying activities become impossible, and some mediocre ones become the obvious choice.

The solo constraint

Two things limit you alone:

  • Sell missions with multiple vehicles. If a sale spawns four vehicles and a timer, you cannot deliver them alone before it expires. That caps your maximum stock per sale.
  • No one to defend you. Public lobby sales are a griefing target with no backup.

Everything below is ranked with those in mind.

What earns best alone

Passive income first

Set these up and they accrue while you do other things:

  • Nightclub popularity income — small, steady, requires occasional upkeep
  • Nightclub warehouse accrual — the standout. Technicians accrue goods from your other businesses automatically, and the sale can be done solo with one vehicle if you keep stock below the threshold
  • Arcade / office safes — trivial to collect, accumulate on their own

The nightclub is the single best solo asset in the game because it converts other businesses’ output into one easy sale.

Active work worth doing

  • Heist finales you can solo or duo — the highest per-hour rate available, but requires setup time
  • Cayo-style solo-capable heists — designed to be completed alone, which is precisely why they’re the solo backbone
  • Special cargo (small batches) — buy in ones and twos so the sale spawns a single vehicle
  • Bunker research and sales — decent, but sell before stock forces a multi- vehicle delivery

Not worth it alone

  • Large-batch cargo sales — the vehicle count makes them impossible
  • Anything requiring a second player to hold a position
  • Most vehicle cargo at high stock levels

The single most important solo habit

Sell before your stock triggers a multi-vehicle delivery.

Every sale mission scales the number of delivery vehicles to how much product you have. Past a threshold, you physically cannot complete it alone in the time given.

Selling smaller, more often, is less efficient per trip and vastly more efficient per hour, because your completion rate is 100% instead of zero.

Invite-only lobbies

Most business activity works in an invite-only session. Use them.

You lose nothing meaningful and remove the entire category of “lost an hour of work to someone in a flying bike”. A few activities require a public lobby — those are the ones to be strategic about.

Setup order for a new solo player

  1. CEO office — unlocks the structure everything else hangs off
  2. A small warehouse — cheap, teaches the loop
  3. Nightclub — the priority purchase; it’s what makes solo income scale
  4. Bunker — feeds the nightclub, and research has its own value
  5. Additional businesses — mainly to feed nightclub technicians

Buying in this order means each purchase makes the previous ones better. Buying a big warehouse before a nightclub is a common expensive mistake.

Time versus money

Be honest about the exchange rate. Some activities pay well per hour and are tedious. If you’re grinding a business you find boring to afford a vehicle you want, consider whether you’re still playing a game.

The best solo setup is the one that earns while you do the parts you actually enjoy.

On shark cards and “money glitches”

Buying currency is a legitimate choice if your time is worth more than the grind.

Modded money and glitch exploits are not. Account bans and wipes are routine, they’re applied retroactively, and “everyone does it” is not a defence Rockstar has ever accepted. Every account lost this way was certain it wouldn’t happen.

Payouts change

Rockstar adjusts payouts, bonuses and event weeks constantly. Any specific rupee or dollar figure in a guide — including anything you read elsewhere — is a snapshot.

Check the current week’s bonuses before committing an evening to a specific grind. The multipliers frequently make a normally mediocre activity the best one available.

Bottom line: nightclub first, sell in small batches before the vehicle count scales, work in invite-only sessions, and check the week’s bonus multipliers before picking what to grind.
